Obama Pays Memorial Day Tribute to Fallen American Heroes at National Cemetery

Obama said in his Memorial Day address that this day was to memorialize patriots who "gave of themselves until they had nothing more to give."

"Our nation owes a debt to its fallen heroes that we can never fully repay. But we can honor their sacrifice, and we must. We must honor it in our own lives by holding their memories close to our hearts, and heeding the example they set," he told a crowd at the cemetery's Memorial Amphitheater.

"And we must honor it as a nation by keeping our sacred trust with all who wear America’s uniform, and the families who love them; by never giving up the search for those who’ve gone missing under our country’s flag or are held as prisoners of war; by serving our patriots as well as they serve us – from the moment they enter the military, to the moment they leave it, to the moment they are laid to rest."

The Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia is the final resting place of more than 300,000 Americans, including presidents and a first lady.

In his speech, Obama also invoked scripture as he recently did at the Memorial Service for tornado victims in Joplin, Mo., Sunday.

The president cited a verse from the Book of Isaiah, which was mailed to him by Gold Star parents. The verse read, "When I heard the voice of the Lord saying, ‘Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?’ And I said, ‘Here I am. Send me!’"

"That’s what we memorialize today.(memorial day, memorial, memorial day poems, memorial day quotes, memorial day quote ) That spirit that says, send me, no matter the mission. Send me, no matter the risk. Send me, no matter how great the sacrifice I am called to make," said Obama.

He also told the story of Travis Manion and Lieutenant Brendan Looney, two roommates who became friends while at the Naval Academy. After graduation, Travis was deployed to Iraq while Brendan was sent to Korea.

Sports Illustrated article brings Jim Tressel under fire

It seems that even after Jim Tressel’s resignation, Ohio State will have to face the consequences of his actions. An article written by George Dohrmann and published in Sports Illustrated, has revealed some of the dirty secrets regarding Jim Tressel and the team which he was coaching. The article accuses Jim Tressel of years of rules violation by himself and his players. According to the details of the article, Jim Tressel feigned ignorance of players receiving money and improper benefits which included cars and marijuana , during his time as coach at Youngstown and Ohio State.

The Sports Illustrated article claims that at least 28 Ohio State players, dating back to 2002 are either publicly known or alleged to have traded or sold memorabilia. This act was a direct violation of the NCAA rules and the players apparently did this in exchange for tattoos from local Columbus businesses. All of this was taking place under Jim Tressel’s leadership and knowledge, but he chose to ignore these facts and did not stop his players from doing so.

A former defensive lineman by the name of Robert Rose is one of the players who has violated the rules of NCAA but he does not regret receiving gifts saying; "I knew how much money that the school was making. I always heard about how Ohio State had the biggest Nike budget. I was struggling, my mom was struggling. ... It was just something that I had to do. I was in a hard spot. ... [Other] guys were doing it for the same reasons.(tressel resigns, terrelle pryor, columbus dispatch, jim tressel, tressel ) The university doesn't really help. Technically we knew it was wrong, but a lot of those guys are from the inner city and we didn't have much, and we had to go on the best we could. I couldn't call home to ask my mom to help me out."
The Sports Illustrated article even touches on Jim Tressel’s actions as assistant for the Buckeyes under Earle Bruce in the 1980s, and highlights his improper actions even during those times.

Sports Illustrated has tried to contact the Ohio State for comments about the allegations which have been made by George Dohrmann in his article, but no calls have been answered or returned. It seems that Ohio State will have to deal with Jim Tressel’s mess for a long time to come.

Evelyn Lozada: New 'Basketball Wives' Features Lozada, Drama and Little Else

If you have ever read anything that I have written before, I apologize. I tend to get a bit snooty when it comes to my entertainment.

This includes TV shows as well s sporting events. I have covered everything from Dancing with the Stars to Cricket. While I am still trying to grasp the finer workings of Cricket, I have a pretty good grasp on quality television.

I have after all been watching since I was able to open my eyes. I have tried to watch Basketball Wives, a show on loosely tied to anything basketball.

MUST READ: The 50 Best and Worst Bobbleheads in Sports

Its biggest star, Evelyn Lozada is marrying Chad Ochocinco, a wide receiver for crying out loud. My biggest problem with the show is substance.

I love me some drama, I really do. If there was a subscription needed to watch Maury Povich, I would fork over whatever the cost.

The drama in Basketball Wives is just to over blown.evelyn lozada I can't remotely relate to their plights, and I am really trying people.

The third season premiered on Monday evening. Once again I was treated to wives and girlfriends of past and current athletes living the good life.

They have everything at their finger tips, yet they can't help but back stab and cat fight for the duration of the show. We have been promised by Lozada on her Twitter account that more drama is on the way.

This is the first and last time I will ever state this, I can't take anymore drama. I am done.

Justin Bieber's perfume ad: seduction by a child is wrong

Cricma.com promate this product. To be fair, Eduardo (and aunt of Eduardo), perfume adverts are not exactly known for that elusive quality we in the business refer to as "the relaxed sphincter factor". This is when something is so unembarrassing that one can relax one's sphincter. Clever that, huh? A really, like, smart linguist must have come up with that one. A cunning one, even. OK, step away, folks, nothing to see here.

Some of us are still recovering from Ewan McGregor's unforgivable plug for Davidoff Somethingorother ("I find myself in an exhilarating journey" – presumably a journey straight to the bank). Even worse was the Chanel sheckel taken by McGregor's former singing mate, Nicole Kidman. It is a proven medical fact that just the memory of Kidman braying, "I'm a dancer! I love to dance!" still causes the innards of all sentient human beings to curl.

Meanwhile, the contributions to the world of olfactory cinema from Sean John/Diddy/Daddy/Swagg/whatever-his-stupid-name-is-this-week are so extraordinary they require their own genre, as Hitchcock's films do, or those of David Lynch, but in a perhaps less positive way.

Cricket in 18th Century

With the increase of popularity of cricket among gamblers during the Restoration period in 1960, teams were formed by people who were willing to build up their stakes and county teams came into existence. The sport moved out from the lower section of the society and got associated with businessmen and aristocrats who were willing to own and spend on these teams. With influential bureaucrats like the Second Duke of Richmond and Seventh Baronet etc, the press began covering the sport regularly.
Spread of Cricket

east india company Cricket began its journey outside England in the 17th Century through the British Army who introduced the sport in the English Colonies in North America. In the 18th Century cricket spread to countries like West Indies, India and Australia. In the 19th Century it reached New Zealand and South Africa. Meanwhile cricket continued to grow in England with London and Dartford emerging as famous clubs at the beginning of the 18th century. The Slindon club from Sussex was another upcoming club which was aided by the Duke of Richmond. Other major clubs included Maidenhead, Maidstone, Hornchurch, Bromley, Sevenoaks, Addington, Chertsey, Hadlow and Hambledon clubs.
Changes in Cricket
Laws & Rules

The fundamental rules of cricket such as the wicket, bat & ball, overs, out etc are believed to have continued in the same format from the beginning even though there were no written references stating the same. The “Articles of Agreement” was drafted by Alan Brodick and the Duke of Richmond in 1728 in an effort to standardize the method of playing. The Laws of Cricket came into effect in 1744 which were later modified in 1774 with additions like middle stump, maximum bat width and leg before wicket rules. The laws were drafted by the Star and Garter club who went on to form the Marylebone Cricket Club in 1787 at the Lord’s.(sean kingston, sean kingston accident, sean kingston news, sean kingston dead, miami herald ) The Marylebone Cricket Club also became the curators of the Laws and was authorized to make revisions and additions to the laws.
The Bowling

The initial stages of cricket saw the cricket ball being rolled along the ground with an underarm bowling action. However, this format of bowling was discontinued after 1760 and the bowlers needed to pitch the ball using a round arm action which helped create a bounce and thus the bowler could vary the pace, line and length of the ball.My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding recap:(4, 4 share, ipl 2011 final, ipl 2011 final highlights, shakira ) Everyone Marries at 16, Right. The round-arm action, faced challenges and it was soon decided that the ball needs to be bowled with a fully raised arm action which ensured better pace, accuracy and control.
The Bat

history of cricket bat wall plaque

The initial cricket bats were shaped more like hockey sticks with an elongated “L” like bottom until the 18th century. However with the modifications in the bowling style, where as opposed to a rolling ball batsman had to face bouncing and flighted balls, the cricket bats met a straighter makeover to look like the modern day bats.
The Balls per over trial(4, 4 share, ipl 2011 final, ipl 2011 final highlights, shakira )

With the changing trends in bowling action the balls bowled per over also was experimented with. Until 1889 the balls bowled over were four which was modified to five balls per over and later to 6 balls per over in 1900. In 1922, Australia with some other countries tried 8 balls per over with New Zealand and South Africa joining in the trend in 1924 and 1937 respectively. However after the Second World War, cricket resumed with the six balls per over format. The 2000 version of cricket laws deemed 6 balls per over.
