Racing: Gaskins in a hurry to realize her dream

Andie Gaskins, it seems, was destined for her own stretch of open road.

Just four years after learning to ride, the Gillette, Wyo., woman is turning heads with a blossoming motorcycle racing career.

At last year’s All Harley Drag Racing Association Race at the Rally at Sturgis Dragway, Gaskins rode her 2006 Harley Destroyer to the top qualifying time in the Super Sport division, then backed that up by winning three rounds of eliminations to win the class.

“Every win is big,” she said. “This is a national sanction. These aren’t your every day weekend goers. These guys do this all the time.”(sturgis)

In 2009, she was top qualifier in another class at the annual AHDRA stop at Sturgis Dragway, an eighth-mile concrete and asphalt strip designed for straight-line motorcycle racing.

Gaskins’ husband Jeremy got Andie, a native of Gettysburg, started on motorcycles in 2007.

Comparing ICC Cricket with T-20 Cricket

There has been a long debate on the controversies between the ICC Cricket world championship and T-20 cricket world championship for the past few years since the T-20 cricket was introduced into the world. Many cricket news critics were of the view that the twenty-twenty cricket will attract more audience than the normal 50-overs cricket, because of its time and cost-effectiveness with immediate results.

But unfortunately, we haven't seen any such difference of inclining or declining audience-ship in both of the two games. We do admit that the newly introduced form of cricket is more interesting and takes not enough time for the outcome of potential results, but it doesn't mean that 50-overs cricket has lost its charm among the cricket fans.

One of the most interesting examples of this form of cricket was noticed during ICC Cricket world cup 2011, where there was a big and even more than expected crowd during every world cup match. People have gone quite confused watching this situation, especially some of the sporting sports analysts, who have been claiming decline in the readership, audience-ship and viewership of cricket, were stunned watching this scenario.

Well, there are so many reasons for this. Few among them include the examples of football, as football lovers cannot leave playing and watching matches even if they take more than 3 hours to finish the game. Same is the case with cricket lovers too, as they cannot live without playing and watching cricket. When we talk of football, European and American nations are much into it, whereas, on the cricket side, there are Asian nations who have a craze of this game.

Coming to the comparison of ICC cricket and T-20 cricket, following are some of the major noticeable differences:

1. ICC cricket takes much time to finish as compared to T-20
2. T-20 costs less to organize the event as compared to ICC cricket.
3. T-20 is quite fast and lets you know the talent of huge stroke players, whereas, the ICC cricket is quite slow, which gives you the opportunity to assess potential players.

Keeping these things in vision, different sporting sports experts and cricket news analysts suggest that the concerned authorities should take advantage of these two different events to choose players for two different types of cricket; that is for power play & normal play and for test cricket. It will really help them make teams stronger who will ultimately attract more audience.

I did not steal anyone's husband: Denise Richards

London: Actress Denise Richards says that she is not the reason of American rock guitarist Richie Sambora's divorce with wife Heather Locklear, insisting he had already filed for divorce before she fell in love with the rocker.

Richards found love with the Bon Jovi star in 2006, soon after she ended her marriage to actor Charlie Sheen.

"We (her and Sambora) were friends and we were both going through divorces, and that's what drew us to each other... I did not steal someone's husband. Did I date a former friend's ex-husband? Yes. Did I break up a marriage? No," dailystar.co.uk quoted Richards as saying.(heather locklear)

"If I was still friends with (Locklear), that never would have happened with Richie. There was no friendship anymore prior to Richie and I getting together," she added.

New Posters for APOLLO 18 and RISE OF THE PLANET OF THE APES

New posters for sci-fi/thrillers Apollo 18 and Rise of the Planet of the Apes have landed online. For those unaware, director Gonzalo López-Gallego’s Apollo 18 is a found-footage pic set in space which posits that 1972's Apollo 17 mission was America’s last “official” manned moon trip. According to the new sheet, the film will help explain why the nation stopped visiting the moon.(apollo 18)

As for Rise, director Rupert Wyatt’s prequel stars James Franco, Andy Serkis, Freida Pinto, Tom Felton, and John Lithgow. Aside from featuring an ape creepily peering over Franco’s shoulder, the international sheet on display here does a nice job of explaining why animals can’t have nice things. Check out each of the new posters after the jump.

The Reasons Behind Popularity Of Cricket

The origins of cricket can be traced back to Tudor times in early 16th-century England. This one time colonial recreational activity is now the most popular form of sport in the Commonwealth Nations. Since the last few decades after the sport was televised it became the next popular entertainment to Football that could be enjoyed sitting at home. Today cricket is one of the most popular sports among youngsters, middle aged and even aged class of people. Cricket is hogging all the money and bandwidth and because of this other sports are often neglected is some countries like India. What are reasons of popularity of this game?

The first and foremost reason which critics point out is – media gives more attention to the game! The media gives a lot of preference to the players of the game and the game itself. Countries like India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri-Lanka consider this sport as in their blood. So, the media takes the right opportunity to push it forward and create a kind of zeal among cricket lovers. But media is not the only reason to make this game popular. Simply media cannot be pushing forward a game to the zenith without the mass having some interest in it. Cricket is perhaps a sport which can be played the most casual way in any place. It is a game anybody can play without any prior requirements or special techniques for general recreation.

A long corridor of your home can be a place to play the game between two brothers. It is everywhere – in constricted spaces in apartment complexes, urban townships, and places which can be made the best use of space. Even an L shaped compound too can be a place to play this game without much trouble. Considering other sports they are not as flexible as cricket and cannot be played as freely as cricket.

The gentlemen’s game again requires minimum equipment to play it anywhere. You just need a ball, a pair of slippers for stumps, a bat and little equipment to start it anywhere and get the complete recreation of the game. But, if you ask why not football, basketball or something other then the simple answer you get is that you need specialized surfaces for it. Cricket is a game that survives in all mediums, platforms and climatic conditions to some extent too.

There have been many floating theories around which tell why cricket is the most popular sport in Commonwealth countries. Another popular theory that is put forward by experts is that Cricket tries to adapt to changing needs of people and that’s why the sport is very popular. There was a time when test matches were considered popular, then came 60 over matches; then there was an era of one-day internationals and now the Twenty20 cricket. These changes have been around with the changing lifestyle, needs, and time factor of people.

Rory McIlroy Feels America’s Balmier Weather Calling

AKRON, Ohio — Rory McIlroy was not kidding after the British Open when he said he did not care much for the weather there and liked playing American-style golf courses better than Britain’s seaside.

McIlroy, who gave up his PGA Tour card after one season last year, has had a change of heart and mind and said Wednesday at the W.G.C.-Bridgestone Invitational that he would be playing a full-time schedule in the United States next season.

A 22-year-old Ulsterman who lives in the Belfast suburb of Holywood, McIlroy said he planned to look at real estate in Orlando and northern Palm Beach County in Florida after next week’s P.G.A. Championship and would make a decision shortly thereafter. (golf courses)

“I spoke to a couple of the guys from the PGA Tour today about it, and I’m leaning towards taking my card up again, definitely,” said McIlroy, who won the United States Open in June. “I feel as if I play my best golf over here. I’m very comfortable in this country.

Hightower helped put Smith among football's best actors

The NFL universe mourns the passing of the legendary Bubba Smith, who had quite a successful career with the Colts, Raiders and Oilers. But for many generations, Smith entertained during his second career as an actor, appearing in Miller Lite commercials and the "Police

Academy" series.

Smith was not the first former NFL player to make the leap into acting, and he certainly wasn't the first to play a law enforcement official. In an effort to honor and remember Smith, here is my list of the six greatest.(police academy )
