Many players who failed to get recognition or attention of national squad selection committee could put their show through IPL.

So, the first step that you should look forward to is that you start playing the game early. You have to start it in a good academy of cricket where you are trained by a good coach. Such playing in academies opens opportunities first to enter district and then state level cricket. From state level even if you are not selected in the national team, you get a good annual salary for playing for the state you represent. In countries like England young cricketers get opportunities to play in county matches and club sports. There are many games played besides one day international cricket events where the cricketers can earn good match fee. Once a player reaches state level or equivalent, he or she is then recruited by companies and public sectors to play for their team. For instance in India, there are options like get recruited by banks, railways, and other such public sectors.
