Andie Gaskins, it seems, was destined for her own stretch of open road.Just four years after learning to ride, the Gillette, Wyo., woman is turning heads with a blossoming motorcycle racing career.
At last year’s All Harley Drag Racing Association Race at the Rally at Sturgis Dragway, Gaskins rode her 2006 Harley Destroyer to the top qualifying time in the Super Sport division, then backed that up by winning three rounds of eliminations to win the class.
“Every win is big,” she said. “This is a national sanction. These aren’t your every day weekend goers. These guys do this all the time.”(sturgis)
In 2009, she was top qualifier in another class at the annual AHDRA stop at Sturgis Dragway, an eighth-mile concrete and asphalt strip designed for straight-line motorcycle racing.
Gaskins’ husband Jeremy got Andie, a native of Gettysburg, started on motorcycles in 2007.
