New Belgium's Urban Assault Ride draws more than 900

A crowd winced and oohed as a man in a blue football helmet did a belly flop down a slip-n-slide at Fort Collins' Spring Park Sunday. But Greg Kus stood quietly in the grass a few dozen feet away, sipping from a water bottle and grinning at the commotion around him.A first-year participant in New Belgium Brewing's Urban Assault Ride, Kus was separated from his bike-riding, scavenger-hunting partner somewhere along the way to one of the track's nine checkpoints through Fort Collins.

But laid back, in a button-down shirt-turned tank top, Kus wasn't worried about beating the 930 others competing in Sunday's race to the finish line back at New Belgium's headquarters, 500 Linden St.(njuškalo hr, geojit, lasttorents.org login, ????, dani bananinha )

"I'm not in it to win it, just here to have some fun," said Kus, who works for New Belgium distributing its dozens of beers.Minutes later, Tyler Peters sped toward Kus on his bike.

"I got lost," Peters screams, high-fiving his riding partner and co-worker as he ran up the hill to the head of the slip-n-slide.Peters and Kus were among hundreds who raced about Fort Collins completing nine checkpoints and subsequent activities that required participants to use Keen shoe slingshots and pedal along a parking lot track on a big-wheel tricycle. One even had costumed riders dive for three cans of New Belgium beer at the bottom of a pool on Tulane Drive, helmet still on.
