The NFL officially opened for business on Monday, and some teams wasted no time in making roster moves. The Baltimore Ravens have told several starting players they will be cut as soon as the league permits it in an effort to create more cap space.
According to the Baltimore Sun, the players to be cut include tight end Todd Heap, running back Willis McGahee, wide receiver Derrick Mason and defensive tackle Kelly Gregg. The release of these players will save the Ravens $18.6 million, setting them up to make some noise in free agency. (nfl, pittsburgh steelers, dallas cowboys, redskins, steelers )
Could the Ravens be making a move for All-Pro cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha?
The Ravens certainly would like to upgrade their defensive secondary. As a team, they are only a piece or two away from the Super Bowl. Signing Asomugha would be a very big piece.
